San Fu Chemical Co., Ltd. was founded in 1952 as a food processing plant. In 1987 San Fu and Air Products & Chemicals Inc. of USA became a joint venture, which coincided with the dawning of the Electronics Age for Taiwanese industries. Its revenues shot up multifold, going from NT$ 700 to 800 million per annum before the 1990s to some NT$10 billion per annum in the 1990's. But as such, San Fu's original food processing business became somewhat neglected. In 2003, the management staff at San Fu decided to place renewed emphasis on food processing again, and thus spun off its gas business which became San Fu Gas Company Ltd. This allows San Fu Chemical to focus on food processing as its primary business, with renewed emphasis on developing related technologies.

　　 With a background in chemistry and chemical industrial applications, Dr. C. H. Chang came upon the opportunity to serve as the Special Adviser to the Chairman of San Fu. Dr. Chang went to the US for advanced studies in 1963, and had lived there for over 40 years. The professional papers published by Dr. Chang number in the 60's. He has also received 38 patent awards. Though retired, he is in every sense an accomplished technological talent. Since he obtained US citizenship status, initially he had no plan to return to Taiwan. But when the senior management staff at San Fu discovered Dr. Chang's accomplishments during the planning phase for the company's patent acquisition roadmap, the management staff at San Fu just had to have Dr. Chang onboard. After repeated invitations from San Fu, and in light of the fact that San Fu is located in his hometown (Shanhua Township, Tainan County), Dr. Chang finally gave in and made the journey back to Taiwan to once again apply the wealth of his experiences and knowledge in his area of specialty. ....
